  3.                               A MESSAGE TO SYSOPS

  7.     Two items that I feel are worth bringing to your attention:
  8.  
  9. 1.  A number of sysops who receive DTPBBSxx.ZIP on a regular basis have pointed 
  10.     out the value of posting this list as a bulletin available to all. The 
  11.     reasons for this are basic.
  12.  
  13.     First is that it is a service to the user. The second is that the number of 
  14.     folks getting involved in BBSing is increasing dramatically. This means a 
  15.     number of new users. While many of them may be able to use this list (or 
  16.     others like it), they have problems. Some have yet to learn the ins and 
  17.     outs of downloading; others haven't got their zip utilities yet, so they 
  18.     can't deal with zipped files; and so on.
  19.  
  20.     Not being a sysop myself, I hadn't really thought about this before. 
  21.     Obviously, whether you choose to post this list or any other is entirely up 
  22.     to you, but I feel it's worth your consideration.

  24. 2.  With the onrush of technology in the desktop publishing arena, many boards 
  25.     are now carrying desktop conferences, files, message bases and so forth. If 
  26.     you are one of these boards, you may be aware that there was a loose-knit 
  27.     group of boards known as the National Publisher's Exchange (NPE).
  28.  
  29.     The NPE was founded and run by Ed Aborn, former sysop of the Eastern 
  30.     Publisher's Exchange BBS in Florida. Regretably, Ed's board is now defunct. 
  31.     As a result, the NPE itself has been reorganized and is now known as the 
  32.     International Publishers Exchange (IPE). This is a major international 
  33.     effort aimed at opening the communication channels between desktop 
  34.     publishing oriented bulletin board systems, corporations and user groups. 
  35.     (More detailed information is contained in the accompanying file, 
  36.     PUBNET.TXT).
